Triumph Vocational Services

Ready... Set... Go!

A Triumph Vocational Services™ Success Story • October 2004

Mike often talked with his case worker about finding work. He just didn’t know what he could do because of the limits of his disability. So, when the Triumph Program began, Mike wanted to be referred to it right away.

Mike wasn’t sure what to expect from his interviews with his Triumph counsellors, but he was happy with the results. He said his counsellors were very positive and he picked up on that attitude. They showed him he had a lot of abilities and helped him recognize them.

Mike considered the types of jobs available with the help of his counsellors. Then they tackled Mike’s resume and interview skills. Mike said his counsellors made learning interview skills “comfortable and easy.” Now, Mike was set to take on a job experience placement.

Mike’s counsellors found a work experience position at McDonald’s and Mike was ready for it. He worked hard and was determined to turn the placement into a paying job.The experience was so positive for Mike and for McDonald’s that they hired him for a part-time position. Mike said working at the restaurant increased his confidence--and his spending money.

Working with a Triumph team is all about abilities, all about what you can do. Mike is grateful for the Triumph experience and advises newcomers to Triumph to “take it easy and be patient.”The process “works.”

Working with Triumph is all about abilities — all about what you CAN do.
