  Employment Crisis Services

If you are in danger of losing your current job, Triumph can provide intervention services to help you retain your position. These include, but are not limited to:

Disability Accommodations and Supports
Triumph's accommodation assistance is based on your needs and may include assistive technologies, restorative equipment, adaptive furnishings, customized software, modifications to accommodate learning style, use of a sit/stand stool, or other inexpensive ways to help you reach your goals. Triumph staff will consult the appropriate agencies for devices or adjustments. Government funding may also be available. Read more about accommodations.

Employer/Employee Liaising
Vocational Coaches can work directly with both you and/or the employer when situations arise in the workplace. For example, we can provide the following services:

  • Workplace conflict resolution
  • Negotiating with employer on such items as job adaptations, technology access, job restructuring
  • Providing crisis intervention with regard to job retention.

Employment Support Groups
Employment Support Groups are available to all working clients and are facilitated by Vocational Coaches. These groups:

  • Encourage clients to contribute to the creation of positive workplaces
  • Provide an outlet for clients to discuss and find solutions for employment barriers and frustrations
  • Allow clients to build relationships with peers who may be experiencing similar concerns

Formal Assessments

In order to gather information about clients to facilitate planning and employment activities, the following formal assessments may be useful:

  • Learning Disability Assessments
  • Physical Capacity or Functional Assessments
  • Neuropsychological/Vocational Assessments
  • Vocational/Psychological Assessments
  • Medical Report

Informal Assessments

Informal assessments are often used to gain a more in-depth understanding of our clients. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Transferable Skills Analysis – this assessment identifies knowledge skills and abilities that are central to occupation competence in all sectors and at all levels
  • Work-Based Assessment – this assessment reviews a client's work habits and skills in a setting that incorporates workplace activities

Job/Task Analysis
With guidance from Vocational Coaches, clients can explore and analyze specific job tasks related to their selected employment choice. A profile of the selected employment choice may include main job tasks, education and training required, working conditions, BC employment trends and average earnings. This process ensures realistic employment goal-setting.

Practice Groups
Practice Groups are offered either during a client's job search or post-placement. Practice Groups allow clients to actively practice job retention skills - skills that lead to sustained employment, increased employability and ultimately greater independence and self-reliance. Practice Groups also provide opportunities to meet other clients in a similar situation.

Retention Counselling
For some clients, a more individualized, one-on-one approach to job retention is appropriate. In these cases, Vocational Coaches support clients in enhancing soft skills or managing stress and emotional challenges. These sessions may occur either at the workplace or offsite.
