Job Search (Assisted or Individual)
Triumph professionals support clients with everything from résumé development to employer contacts and interviews. Triumph works with clients through a manageable, step-by-step process that boosts confidence and makes the most of skills and talents.
Identifying Placement Opportunities
Triumph employs Job Developers who network with the local business community to locate positions that are appropriate for our clients. Many employers are looking to hire persons with disabilities and we are successful at finding full-time, part-time and volunteer positions.
Paid Placements (Part- or Full-time)
If clients are interested in paid employment, we support them on the job through the training process and provide follow-up to both the client and and employer. If the client's job description changes or if he/she receives a promotion, we will provide re-training and further assessments if necessary.
Volunteering
Another option for PES clients is a volunteer placement.
Volunteering is a great way to explore vocational choices and contribute to the community. It can also be a stepping stone to employment. Clients may wish to volunteer for short a period of time or make a long-term volunteer commitment. Triumph volunteer placements are at least three hours per week for a minimum of two weeks.
Work Experience
During a work experience, clients are involved in training and the day-to-day responsibilities of a job, but the work is unpaid and time-limited. This is an effective way for clients to build their skills and determine if the job is right for them.
Job Shadowing
When clients are interested in learning more about what a particular job or career entails, job shadowing - observing without actively working - is a great option. It allows clients to spend the workday following someone on the job as they perform the required duties for their position. Job shadowing is a great tool for increasing career awareness, learning about the skills-set required for a job and identifying what steps need to be taken to achieve the desired position.
Disability Accommodations and Supports
Triumph's accommodation assistance is based on our clients' needs and may include assistive technologies, restorative equipment, adaptive furnishings, customized software and more. It might also include modifications to accommodate learning style, use of a sit/stand stool, or other inexpensive ways to help clients reach their goals. Triumph staff will consult the appropriate agencies for devices or adjustments. Government funding may also be available. Read more about accommodations.
Employment Support Groups
Employment Support Groups are available to all working clients and are facilitated by Vocational Coaches. These groups:
- Encourage clients to contribute to the creation of positive workplaces
- Provide an outlet for clients to discuss and find solutions for employment barriers and frustrations
- Allow clients to build relationships with peers who may be experiencing similar concerns
Follow-Up
We remain in contact with all of our clients for a 6-month period after the work/volunteer placement begins to ensure long-term success. If the client requires further support to be successful in his/her position, we provide a variety of additional services such as job coaching, support groups, practice groups and mentorship.
Job Coaching
Once Clients are placed in a paid or volunteer position, our Vocational Coaches continue to provide individualized job support if necessary. These support services may include:
- Organizing and structuring daily tasks
- Hand-over-hand demonstrations
- Modelling
- Helping create new performance methods to adapt work tasks
- Consulting with employers to increase accessibility within the workplace
Practice Groups
Practice Groups are offered either during a client's job search or post-placement. Practice Groups allow clients to actively practice job retention skills - skills that lead to sustained employment, increased employability and ultimately greater independence and self-reliance. Practice Groups also provide opportunities to meet other clients in a similar situation.
